Hello world! Welcome to the blog world of PreauxFace! We are an elite on-location makeup and hair team based in one of the greatest (I know, we're a bit biased) cities in America - New Orleans.
I have contemplated and put a lot of thought into the subject of our first blog post, maybe talk more about PreauxFace? A little more about me? Nah. We're going to talk a little bit about what inspired the name "PreauxFace" and why what started everything in the first place - our love for New Orleans.
I moved here in the Fall of 2014, desperately searching for a way to move south before we had to endure another -20º winter in Ohio. My partner has ties to New Orleans, and we had planned a trip here to escape for a while and visit some friends and family. We knew New Orleans was on the radar for a future city to settle in, but I wasn't totally sold on it just yet. I will be the first to admit, the only thing I knew about New Orleans before moving was Bourbon Street and Mardi Gras - I honestly didn't know much.
It is crazy to think about how much I have learned over the last couple of years about this city. From the ludicrous pronunciation of street names, the fact that a dance party or second line can spring up out of nowhere, to the history of the culture that truly makes New Orleans feel like the most unique city it America. I will be the first to admit that drinking in the streets and the culture around the "go-cup" persuaded me to pack my bags and call this place home.
The history and architecture was the first piece of New Orleans that I had to digest. You can really lose yourself for hours walking around neighborhoods and really opening your eyes to soak in all of the beautiful houses and old decaying buildings. Even a walk through City Park really allows you to clear your mind and grasp how beautiful and picturesque New Orlean's is.
New Orleans is hugely based around events - the more reasons to celebrate the better! As a makeup artist, it completely made sense to settle here and bring my talent with me. My team and I have had the chance to create beautiful and unique makeup year round. I'm sure it's cliche and many locals might not agree with me, but I love it here more and more with every Mardi Gras and Carnival season. The city is bustling and alive with prismatic energy - we are ready to celebrate, let loose, and have fun!
